Welcome to Mind Body Moment

teaching Yogalates Method to adults of any age, gender & ability
A note from Janet - Why the Yogalates Method?
Over the years I have experienced various Yoga & Pilates classes, and despite the extent of the teachers knowledge, experience & ability, I felt that I didn't truly understand what I was supposed to be doing or how to do it (safely), yet I knew that both would be truly beneficial to me, not only for my dancing but for everyday life.
So I read books, watched and practiced with videos, DVDs  & apps. for both forms and incorporated them in my daily exercise regime at home (and when away).
Teaching Dance Fitness 'FunDancing', people watching and not getting any younger myself, I could see that everyone could benefit from regular practice of either Pilates or Yoga (or both).
I have asked people of their experience of Yoga or Pilates and, from those who are not regularly practicing either form, the general responses have been along the lines of "I've tried in the past but didn't quite understand the benefits", or "I thought Pilates was for those recovering from injuries" and "Yoga is only for those who are very flexible or young "
So I looked for a way in which I could help to enlighten these misconceptions whilst bringing some added value to their lives. I found Yogalates and created Mind Body Moment to teach this fabulously safe exercise form.
I prefer to teach in a 'small class & course' format and, regardless of any former experience of Yoga or Pilates, anyone wanting to join a Mind Body Moment class can only do so if they have completed Mind Body Moment's Welcome 121 and Introductory Course first.

Yogalates is the original award winning fusion of Yoga and Pilates; a safe and accessible exercise format that is excellent for developing core strength & stability (Pilates), while encouraging a connection with self; soothing the nervous system, releasing stress, aiding relaxation bringing inner calm and overall wellbeing (Yoga).

“I met Janet whilst she was on the Yogalates teacher training course in Tuscany. I was taking the week’s Yogalates retreat and was asked if it would be okay if Janet could practice a one-to-one class with me.
She told me about her background in dance and extensive knowledge of exercise generally and why she wanted to get involved with Yogalates explaining how great an exercise choice it was.
She added a really important dimension to my retreat, showing me that I was in fact pushing myself to do big moves before engaging with, and mastering, the basics. I am sure she saved me from not only doing myself a possible injury but also most definitely helped me get the most out of my classes by adjusting my posture and breathing during my poses.
At the end of the Yogalates classes we always take time to relax and the relaxation part of the exercise with Janet was fantastic too, it showed me how to really breathe properly and relax.
I highly recommend a class with Janet, one-to-ones are important to keep you on track, thank you lots Janet!”
